Adventures with George

This weekend Mat and I are in Oklahoma for the Oklahoma City half marathon and to enjoy time with our family and friends. We're staying with our friends, Rob and Sarah, and we brought George along to meet their black lab Callie. I'm not sure about Callie, but George has had a great time so far!

This morning, they found a wet spot in the yard next to the sprinkler, and now there's a big mud pit for them to play in. George became more of a chocolate lab after his fun in the mud! I have never seen him so dirty. (This was taken after swimming in the pond, so he's not near as muddy as he was!)

This afternoon, Rob and Mat took the dogs out to play at some ponds. In the past, George has enjoyed splashing around in water where he can touch but not actually swimming. I guess he figured it was ok to swim today since Callie was enjoying it so much. The guys were throwing a stick in for the dogs to fetch. George swam out to get the stick, but saw something more interesting in the water. He stuck his head under the water and came up with a snake in his mouth! Right about the time Mat figured out what he had, the snake stuck his head up out of the water ready to strike. George was freaked out by the way Mat was calling him, dropped the snake, and got out of the water just in time to miss getting bit. Yikes!

Easter

For the last I don't know how many years, my family has gone camping Easter weekend. There have been a few years that we have missed our trip, but this year Mat and I were able to make the trip out to Junction. It is always a wonderful weekend of catching up, playing games and enjoying the weather (although there have been quite a few years we've been stuck inside the camper because of the weather!). This year was no exception- Mat and I both enjoyed some time relaxing with family and catching up with what's going on in their lives. They even threw us a baby shower! We got a lot of wonderful things that I know will come in handy in a few short months. George went with us and had a great time! I think the whole family enjoyed getting to play with him, and my dad even showed up with a few toys for him- getting some practice at the Grandpa thing. :) I didn't take many pictures, but here are a few that I have.

Spring Break

This Spring Break, my parents decided to rent a cabin for our family at Chain of Lakes. It is only about an hour north of Houston, but it feels like you're in a completely different world! Mat and Kyle, my brother-in-law, were not at the cabin at the same time because of work schedules, and we missed having them there together! We did not have a TV, but we did have cell service, electricity, a full kitchen, heating and air conditioning and comfy beds. This "camping" was not at all like Mat used to do, but he enjoyed a few days of relaxation. We spent a lot of time playing games and sitting around and talking. It was nice to have so much time to catch up and enjoy each other.

Each morning we had a horse drawn carriage pick us up for breakfast at the restaurant. :) (Remember, this is not your typical week of "camping")

On Wednesday, we rented canoes. Mat and I were in one canoe, and my mom and Blair were in the other. We had a lot of fun exploring the different lakes and seeing beautiful scenery. It took my mom and sister some time to figure out how to steer the canoe, but they eventually got the hang of it and enjoyed it. We stopped by our cabin and Blair got out so that my dad could spend some time canoeing too. It was a fun afternoon!

We enjoyed a great week of family time! Here are the rest of our pictures.

George

Here are some pictures of George that my friend Megan took for us Superbowl Sunday. He's changed a lot since these pictures were taken! We took him to the vet on Friday, and he already weighs 30 pounds!

Valentines Day

Today was our Valentines Party at school. Lots of sugar and screaming kids makes for a C-R-A-Z-Y time! When I picked my kids up from lunch, one of my parents was heading to the office. She told me the office had called my room and said there was something for me, and she asked if it would be alright if she picked it up for me. When I got to my classroom I had 12 red roses waiting for me from Mat. What a sweet husband I have! Happy Valentines Day!
