12 Months

Dear Levi,

Tonight, before I laid you down for bed, I cuddled with you and watched the clock turn to 8:05.  I sat there thinking about exactly one year ago today and how our lives were changed when you were born.  You very rarely let me sit and cuddle with you, and I loved having some quiet time to sit with you and think about this year.

You still amaze us with all that you are learning and doing every day.  You are an expert walker now!  You walk like a T-Rex (as your daddy says) with your arms up by your chest, but you are fast and can get anywhere you want to go.  You get very excited and try to go too fast sometimes, so you've taken lots of spills lately.  This has resulted in lots of bumps and bruises, but you don't usually let them bother you too much.  I love watching you walk around and explore.  You are in to everything, and we have to watch you closely!

Your newest love is the refrigerator.  Every time I open it, I hear you rushing to get there before I close the door!

This month you have learned how to show Touchdown with both of your arms up in the air, clap, and I think you're starting to give hugs.  The other day, when we left the Tipps' house, you walked over and hugged Aubrey (and by hugged, I mean wrapped your arms around her and knocked her over).  You also like to hug mine and Daddy's legs.  It's one of the sweetest things ever.

You are still working on those teeth and your crib is proof- there are teeth marks all over it.  There are 2 new teeth on top and 2 coming in on bottom.  You seem to be back to your normal self though- eating better and almost back to your normal sleep schedule.

At the doctor, you weighed 21 pounds 11 ounces and were 28.5 inches long.  With all the walking you've done lately, you have lost some weight since your last appointment.  Your 12 month clothes fit your belly best...but they are too long for your legs!  We have to roll your up pants so that you don't trip over them.  Since you're walking all over the place, you are wearing shoes all of the time now.  It was difficult to find shoes to fit your thick feet, but we found some that will work...for now!

You started drinking milk today, and it didn't seem to phase you at all.  I think the sippy cup however is going to be a bigger challenge!  You're going to fight that battle hard.  You have started protesting the veggies I give you, but you love your fruit and carbs.

The other day I got my email from baby center telling me all about what you are doing and learning right now.  Usually it says "Your baby this week..." but now it says "Your TODDLER this week..."  You are growing and changing so quickly, and sometimes I look at you and want to stop time.  BUT, we love watching you grow and are excited to see all that you learn over the next year.  We love you!

Love,
Mom

A Very Happy Birthday

Today we celebrated Levi's birthday with a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" party.  It seemed to be a success, but most importantly, Levi seemed to have a great time!

We had a colorful house full of balloons (that Levi loved!) and a picture caterpillar with some of our favorite pictures of him throughout the year

a beautiful cupcake cake made by my friend Britney,
Isn't it amazing!?

(I had lots of people prepare me for the fact that Levi may not react to the sweet cake like I wanted him too, but I got exactly the reaction I was hoping for...a happy baby with icing smeared all over himself!)

lots of fun activities in the backyard for the kids (and sometimes the adults too)
The adults (and kids) particularly like the bounce house!

family and friends to help us celebrate

and lots of new clothes and toys for Levi.

Happy Birthday to our little caterpillar!

This was us one year ago today.  We were headed to the hospital to meet our precious son!

Happy 1st Birthday Levi!  We love you!

Pumpkin Patch

I love fall.  I love everything about it- the cooler weather, football, the colors, pumpkins, and I especially love cute babies sitting in those pumpkins.  Saturday we headed out to the pumpkin patch with the Baileys.  I love taking pictures of Levi, but it's also nice to have friends that take great pictures along with you!  I apologize for the picture overload...it was difficult to pick just a few to post!

Countdown...

I thought I was ok with the fact that Levi's birthday is right around the corner. We love the stage he is at right now (of course, we've loved them all!). He's so much fun and learning so much each day. Once I got past the craziness of the beginning of the school year, I've had fun planning his party. I was happy and excited about October 16th...until today.

I was looking at the blog and noticed the countdown ticker to his birthday. I know in my mind that it is only 11 days away, but when I saw it in writing it shocked me! He's going to be 1, and I can't believe it! Where has the time gone?

It almost makes me want to take the little ticker down...not that it will change anything, but at least I won't have to see it in writing. :)

When I told Mat about this he said, "Yep. Tomorrow you'll wake up, and he'll be going to Kindergarten. And then before you know it he'll be off to college." What a supportive husband I have! :)

Walking!

I finally caught Levi walking on video! He is getting more confident each day. I think he'd rather be walking than crawling now. He still crawls some- usually when he's fallen down and needs something to help him pull up. It is so cute to watch him waddle around the house jabbering away.

Also, click HERE to see his 11 month post (a few weeks late...) I'm a little OCD about his monthly posts- I backdated it so that I would post on the day he was actually 11 months old. :)
