Tonight, before I laid you down for bed, I cuddled with you and watched the clock turn to 8:05. I sat there thinking about exactly one year ago today and how our lives were changed when you were born. You very rarely let me sit and cuddle with you, and I loved having some quiet time to sit with you and think about this year.
You still amaze us with all that you are learning and doing every day. You are an expert walker now! You walk like a T-Rex (as your daddy says) with your arms up by your chest, but you are fast and can get anywhere you want to go. You get very excited and try to go too fast sometimes, so you've taken lots of spills lately. This has resulted in lots of bumps and bruises, but you don't usually let them bother you too much. I love watching you walk around and explore. You are in to everything, and we have to watch you closely!
Your newest love is the refrigerator. Every time I open it, I hear you rushing to get there before I close the door!
This month you have learned how to show Touchdown with both of your arms up in the air, clap, and I think you're starting to give hugs. The other day, when we left the Tipps' house, you walked over and hugged Aubrey (and by hugged, I mean wrapped your arms around her and knocked her over). You also like to hug mine and Daddy's legs. It's one of the sweetest things ever.
You are still working on those teeth and your crib is proof- there are teeth marks all over it. There are 2 new teeth on top and 2 coming in on bottom. You seem to be back to your normal self though- eating better and almost back to your normal sleep schedule.
At the doctor, you weighed 21 pounds 11 ounces and were 28.5 inches long. With all the walking you've done lately, you have lost some weight since your last appointment. Your 12 month clothes fit your belly best...but they are too long for your legs! We have to roll your up pants so that you don't trip over them. Since you're walking all over the place, you are wearing shoes all of the time now. It was difficult to find shoes to fit your thick feet, but we found some that will work...for now!
You started drinking milk today, and it didn't seem to phase you at all. I think the sippy cup however is going to be a bigger challenge! You're going to fight that battle hard. You have started protesting the veggies I give you, but you love your fruit and carbs.
The other day I got my email from baby center telling me all about what you are doing and learning right now. Usually it says "Your baby this week..." but now it says "Your TODDLER this week..." You are growing and changing so quickly, and sometimes I look at you and want to stop time. BUT, we love watching you grow and are excited to see all that you learn over the next year. We love you!
Love,
Mom
