George of the Jungle

Otherwise known as our backyard...

Mat took care of the "jungle" yesterday, so it looks much better now.
I wonder if George found any toys he thought he'd lost...

Photo Book

This is the blog where I first read about Project Life. The last few days she's been talking about a free photo book from Picaboo (you pay shipping and tax).

I downloaded the program and have created a book about the day Levi was born and the first few days we were home with him. I wrote down a lot of (but not ALL of) his birth story and even put a letter from Mat and I in it. I love the backgrounds and layouts available, and I am so excited to see my book! My total for my 17 page book is $8.99!

In order to get the free book, you have to order by March 31. You can see more details at the blog I linked above. Just thought I'd pass along a great deal.

Walk this way

Tonight was the perfect night for a walk. We bundled Levi up, loaded him in the stroller, got George and headed out to the lake. We walked around the lake, and then we let George swim for a little while. Levi fell asleep, and George had lots of fun chasing the ball and the ducks in the water.

While George was swimming, this man with a labradoodle walked by. He said to his dog "when you learn to listen and retrieve the ball you can be off your leash and go swimming too." I thought to myself...if he only knew! Just about the only time George does listen is when we're at the lake (or if there's a treat involved!)

It was a great walk...until we headed home. Then, George FREAKED out! There were lots of other dogs out tonight (because it was so beautiful), and George could not handle it. (Too bad the guy with the labradoodle wasn't around to see this behavior!) Needless to say, our walk home was not quite as leisurely. We are excited to say goodbye to winter and are looking forward to more family walks as the weather continues to warm up.

Smiles

Yesterday morning Levi was playing in his exercauser. He was talking and playing (and starting to get a little fussy). Every time he heard my voice though he'd stop talking and get the biggest grin on his face, and every time it just melted my heart. What a sweet baby boy we have!

5 Months Old

Dear Levi,
This month you have really started exploring the world around you, and your personality has really started to emerge. You have become so interested in what we're doing and things we're holding. You reach for (and grab) anything you can get your hands on from toys, to food, to cameras, and most of the time you try to get those things into your mouth. Over the last few days you have really been working hard to get your pacifier into your mouth. In fact, this kept you entertained for about 15 minutes today in the car!

You LOVED Aunt Blair's camera
Playing and chewing on the sleep positioner that used to be in your crib
You are rolling over like a champ. Gone are the days of leaving you on your playmat to play while we take care of things around here. You aren't sitting up on your own yet, but you would much rather be sitting up looking around than laying down.

Playing on your play mat
You are still fascinated by hands (especially yours). You will stop whatever you are doing (even eating) to stare at your hands in amazement, and you love it when we sing songs with hand motions, like Itsy Bitsy Spider. Grammy sang you a song (all week long) about your hands that your Uncle Kyle really loved! :) You really enjoy being outside. When we were camping earlier this week, you loved swinging on the porch swing and listening to the birds. You were especially interested in the woodpeckers. We are excited that it is warming up so we can spend some evenings walking around the neighborhood with you.

When I am feeding you, you have started reaching up to pat my face and grab on to my lips, cheeks, and nose. It's so sweet and always makes me smile. This month you started eating rice cereal. You weren't sure what to think about it at first, but you seem to enjoy it now. You use your thumb to help your swallow your cereal. As I put the spoon into your mouth, you stick your thumb in, suck once or twice, and then start grunting and hitting your highchair tray until I can get the next bite in your mouth!

You are napping better for Megan. Most days you take a long morning nap, and then you cat nap through the afternoon. You are still going down at about 8 o'clock, but we have taken the dreamfeed out of your schedule. The last few days (since I've been on Spring Break) you've slept until 7:15! Your Mommy greatly appreciates that!

Levi, you are such a blessing in our life, and we thank God everyday for you!

Love,
Mom

4 Generations

This weekend Mat's grandparents were in Houston, so we made a quick trip so they could meet Levi. We had a great trip visiting with all of our family members, celebrating our nieces birthdays (just a little late!), and introducing Levi to a few more of his great-grandparents.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Monday Levi stayed with Mindi and it looks like he and Brooke are becoming fast friends!

Yesterday Megan was just having fun taking pictures and got a few really cute ones. Here's one of my favorites.
