The Baileys

Mat and I have been friends with Katie and Chad for a long time.  In fact, Chad and I have been friends since we were about 8.  Katie and I became friends in middle school, and Mat joined in on the fun in middle school and high school through church and band.

A couple of weeks ago, we spent a day celebrating some very important events in the Baileys' lives- the upcoming arrival of their twin boys, Ian and Spencer, and their daughter Ella's 2nd birthday.

Katie's sister, Caroline, and a friend from college, Kristy, and I threw Katie a "Thing 1 & Thing 2" themed birthday party.  It was a fun, colorful afternoon complete with cupcakes topped with blue cotton candy!  We had a great time celebrating Katie and the boys.  I can't wait to hold the little guys!

Later that evening, we headed to the park to celebrate Ella's birthday.  We had a great time eating cake, chasing the little ones around and watching Ella open her presents.  Levi especially loved the playground and the buckets of ice.  :)

Trying to get a picture of all the kids...Guess who tried to escape?

Catching Up

A lot has happened since I posted last:

- End of the school year...It was a great year, but I am glad for some time at home with my little guy!

- Memorial Day weekend in OKC- We headed up to Oklahoma to see our friends from OC.  We had a great weekend, but I didn't take a single picture!  We played games, caught up on each other's lives, the guys had a few political debates, and we ate at all of our favorite places.

- We spent a day celebrating with the Baileys...more to come on that in a later post

- Levi and I spent most of last week at our church's VBS- Camp Agape.  It was a busy week, but we both enjoyed it.  This year, camp had a western theme, and each morning we watched this video.  It got the kids pumped up and excited about the day.  Levi loved it too!  He would ask me for the "hee haw" song.  He loves to sing and clap while he watches it.  Mindi and I worked with the 5th grade girls this year.  It was fun to get to know this group of girls and spend the week with them.

I'm excited about all of the other adventures we will have this summer!

19 Months

Dear Levi,

I love all of the new things that you are learning and doing, but this month has been a challenging one!  You started this month off sick, cutting 4 new teeth, and changing babysitter situations.  You were a different child.  Your eating, sleeping, and playing changed dramatically.  There were a few days where you cried, screamed or pouted from the moment I picked you up at Misty's until we put you to bed.  It was a rough couple of weeks, but I think we have made it through all of those transitions.

You are getting into and on top of anything and everything.  I'm really thankful that our refrigerator door has a lock on the ice & water.  You love to find tupperware containers, reach up to the lever and get yourself some water.  You still love cords (that's another new word you've been saying lately), and you get so angry when I take them away.  You love to climb up on the train table or ottoman.  As soon as you get up there, you say, "Sit Down!"
You started staying with Misty a few weeks ago.  This was a tough transition for both you and me, but I think we're doing pretty good.  Most mornings Dad says you go right to Misty, and she says you have great days.  You're back to eating a wide variety of foods and taking good naps.  That's another change we've had this month- you've dropped your morning naps.

You also love to clean.  Many nights, after dinner, you scream for a wipe!  I get one for you and one for Mommy.  You love trash and love throwing away trash when we're done with it.
You talk all the time!  I love hearing your little voice and all that you have to say.  You say all kinds of things, and you are even using phrases now too.  A couple of weeks ago, I went into your room on Saturday morning with my shoes on.  As soon as I picked you up you looked down at my shoes and said, "Shoes on.  Go bye bye"  On the way home from school today you told me "All done.  Door open!"  You were ready to get out.

You love phones.  This past weekend, when we were in the hotel in Dallas, we unplugged the phones for you to talk on.  You've always loved phones, but in the past, you usually just held it up to your ear and sat there.  Not this weekend- you started having full conversations- "Hello...yes...ummmm....no..."  I love listening to this!

You still love playing with George.  One of the things we've taught George is the command "hearth."  He is supposed to lay down on the hearth and calm down.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.  You've picked up on it though and love telling George to go to the "harf".  You also like to go and sit next to him!

We love you so much Levi.  You are so precious to us and bring so much joy to our lives!

Yay Bear!

This past weekend we headed up to Dallas to celebrate my sister's graduation from PT school.  I had been talking to Levi about our trip telling him we were going to go and say "Yay, Blair!"  All week long he'd ask about Bear, Cow (her husband Kyle), and Stout (their dog Scout).

Levi didn't last long at graduation...just barely through the procession!  As soon as the graduates started marching in, he was screaming "ALL DONE!  BYE BYE!"

I am so proud of my sister and all that she has accomplished!

Congratulations, Dr. Griffith!

First Haircut

Today Levi had his first haircut!  I was really nervous about how he would react, but he did great!  He seemed a little bit nervous but sat on his little motorcycle and talked...until the clippers came out.  Those made him even more nervous, but he never cried.

Our baby is growing up too fast!

Mother's Day

Today has been a low-key but wonderful Mother's Day!  After church we went to lunch and had a productive afternoon at home (full of school stuff, laundry, and playing with the water table).  We've had a weekend full of family, friends, and fun!

(at the Chuy's 5K)

He LOVES my "glakis".
Mat and Levi brought me some beautiful flowers as well as a few things to help finish out the bedroom/bathroom makeover I got for my birthday/Christmas presents.
Levi also "made" me this cute little gift at daycare the other day.  He keeps seeing it and asking for the "baby" inside it!  :)
I love my guys so much!

Royal Wedding

A couple of weeks ago, Mindi, Megan and I were talking about watching the royal wedding together.  Megan is an excellent party planner (remember the Preggie Piggy Party), and she came up with a fun wedding-themed girls night!

Her evite included these vows:

1.  I vow to wear as much white as possible.  A splash of blue will be accepted.
Britney even wore her actual wedding dress!  Impressive!

2.  I vow to bring my wedding photos/album to share with the rest of the group if applicable.
We don't ever pull out these pictures, so it was fun to see each other's pictures and hear about the different weddings!

3.  I vow to bring something edible and wedding themed to share.  Drinks water, tea and punch (of course!) will be provided.
We had lots of delicious "wedding" food- finger sandwiches, truffles, scones, cookies, and of course, wedding cake!  Awesome job on the cake, Mindi!

4.  I vow to come prepared to visit, to laugh and to be completely silent when the royal couple say "I do."
Time to get serious!

We even dressed up a few lucky "brides" in some toilet paper gowns.
I don't think any of them would've said "yes" to any of these dresses...
Except maybe Mindi- she was especially fond of the giant bow I made for her backside!  :)
We also ended up with 2 pregnant brides!  What do you think the queen would've said about that?!

What a fun night with the girls!
