Seventeen Months

Dear Levi,

Your seventeenth month is off to a fun start!  I am enjoying having lots of time to spend with you while I'm home on Spring Break.

You seem to learn new words every day.  You've started calling your dad "Da-ee".  I love when he comes home in the evenings.  You hear the garage door open and run to the door saying "Da-ee".  I know he loves it too!  You can recognize your eyes, ears, mouth, nose, face, teeth and belly button (Although you don't say belly button...you say butt-  I try not to laugh and to say belly button very clearly, but it's just so funny.  I could see a very embarrassing situation coming from this)

I love watching you with George.  As soon as we walk in the door, you run to his kennel saying "Dordie!"   You love to feed him treats, play with his toys and jump around in his kennel.  You also like to pull his tail...and sweet George puts up with it all!

You hate having your teeth brushed, and you usually end up screaming (which actually makes it much easier), but you do like to suck the toothpaste off the toothbrush.

You are becoming more picky about what you eat, but you will always eat a "cracker"  You use the word cracker for pretty much any carb (tortillas, animal crackers, real crackers, cookies, bread...)  If someone is in the kitchen, you walk in saying "cracker...cracker..."

You have a new love for your legos.  You like to stack them up and build towers and then knock them over, but you are very particular about which ones you choose- the short green and orange ones.

You still love bath time.  You come running as soon as you hear the water running!  You have no fear- especially with the water which scares me to death!  You love to splash and you even like to dunk your head under the water.  I know you will love swimming this summer even more than you did last summer!

You like to "rough-house" with Daddy.  He will count to 3 and throw you on the bed and you scream and giggle.  Just the other day we noticed you were helping him count.  He'd say "one..." then you would say "toooo" and then you'd both say "three" together.

My time home with you for Spring Break has made me so excited for the time we'll have this summer!

We love you, Levi!

Books!

This is one of those posts that's probably only interesting to me and the grandparents, but it's the little things Levi is doing right now that I want to remember forever...

In the last few days, Levi has started sitting and listening to entire books.  He especially loves Hop on Pop. He brought it to me today and said "hop."

He also loves to sit on the ottoman and rock back and forth...wildly!  Before he gets up there, he gathers all of his supplies- milk (if it's around), books, and this heavy blanket.  He picks it up out of the basket and grunts as he carries it over to the ottoman.  Then he stands beside the ottoman and says "help...up...up" all while trying to climb up himself.

Rock-A-Bye Baby

Levi loves playing with Mat's guitar.  Sometimes Mat will sit and play in Levi's room while Levi plays with his toys, and sometimes they'll sit together and Levi will "help" him play.

I love my two guys!

Diaper Changes

Lately when I go to change Levi's diapers, he starts screaming for a book.
If it makes diaper changing easier, I'm all for it!

Pacis

Levi loves his pacis.  We will start fighting this battle soon, but until then, we put at least one extra one in his crib at night.  Sometimes we don't realize how many there are in there!

This is also a great picture of the damage Levi has done to his crib!

The other day I went in and found him sitting in his crib with 4!  He was sucking one, and holding on to the other 3.  When I walked in I saw a huge smile from behind that green paci, and then he rotated in a new one.

Enjoy them now little man!

Sixteen Months

Dear Levi,

Today you are 16 months old.  You are all boy!  You run, scream, and knock things over, but we love it!  I never have to wonder about where you are or what you're up to- I can either hear your feet or your little grunts.

You are a little parrot these days.  The other day, Mindi said you looked at her, handed her a fork, and said "for" as clear as day.  While we were talking about it, you looked at the dollhouse and said "house."  It's amazing to hear all of the things you are learning.  I know the doctor thought I was crazy when I told her you could say close to 50 words, but Mindi can vouch for me.

Some new things you are saying: door, side (outside), fork (for), Pops (instead of "ba"), Dordie (our nickname for George- Georgie), hone (phone), open, orange, car, truck, bath, night night, milk, hot, cold, and ow (I think you use this when you mean help).  In fact, the other day in Target, you were reaching for something in the basket and screaming "OW! OW! OW!"  I helped you as fast as I could so that people wouldn't think something was actually hurting you. **Since I'm so behind on posting this, you now can actually say "help."

You love to say "book" and bring them to us, but you still aren't crazy about actually reading them.  You do love your First 100 Words book.  You like to point and listen to us name things, but you if you're in a talkative mood, you like to point and name things yourself.

You love to walk backwards looking at the ceiling.  This is a dangerous new skill because you're always running in to something or falling down.  You love bath time and especially love splashing Daddy!

We tell you no a lot (since you're in to everything), and most of the time you listen, but we are definitely starting to see your toddler stubbornness come out.  We're seeing lots of foot stomping these days!

You still eat just about anything we put on your plate, although over the last few days I've noticed you slowing down a bit.  At the doctor, you were in the 50th percentile for height and weight.  You are 23 pounds and 30 inches long.  You still wear size 4 diapers, and you are moving into your 18 month clothes.  Most of your 12 month pants are too tight around your belly, but the 18 month pants and shorts are too long.

We love you little man!

Snow Day 2011

Today we are off for a "snow" day.  We have had around an inch.  I wish we had just gone to school (our make up day- our new last day of school- will be Memorial Day!)  BUT, at least I am getting to spend some fun time with my little guy.

He'd had enough...all 3 minutes we were out there.  :)

But, he did enjoy the snow more this year than he did last year.
